Create a bedtime routine and stick to it. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, This will help to set your body's internal clock and optimize the quality of your sleep.
Keep your room dark, cool and quiet. Eliminate as much outside noise as possible, try a fan or sound machine to mask anything you can't avoid.
Exercise during the day. Regular exercise can improve symptoms of insomnia and can increase the time you spend in deep, restorative sleep.
Practice Relaxation Techniques. Many suffer from anxiety and stress and its hard to avoid not having a worrying mind at night.Deep breathing, visualizing a restful, peaceful place and Progressive Muscle Relaxation can be great ways to wind down and clear your mind.
Be careful what you eat. Limit caffeine, alcohol and big meals at night. Also be mindful of drinking too much liquid, in general, to avoid bathroom trips during the night.
